The Grain Barn, Shropshire

To convert an original 1960’s black Dutch barn into a 5 bed open-living family home.   We needed to ensure that the character of the original building was retained by honouring the functionality of the building and space.  The black cladding, render and standing seam roof, with concealed gutters and downpipes, strikes a perfect balance with the utilitarian aspect of the former barn.

Floor to ceiling Danish windows, which brings the ‘outside-in’, are situated on 3 of the building’s aspects.   All first-floor windows feature metal recessed reveals and innovative window openings.   The result is a striking new home that makes the most of its location, by offering stunning views of the Shropshire Hills from every aspect.
